Tachibana Shrine Nagasaki is without a doubt one of the best Shrines to visit in Nagasaki. Also, one of the best things about New Years in Japan is the obligatory visit to a Shrine to get a blessing in order to provide health and prosperity for the upcoming year! The Shrine of choice this year for my family and I was the local Tachibana Shrine Nagasaki located in Chijiwa Town about 15 minutes from our house.
Not only is this Shrine well known from all around but it has the distinction of having the biggest and tallest Kadomatsu (Pine tree Gate features) in the world. It's a great feeling to appreciate the effort and dedication of the local people who take tremendous pride in their local surroundings to put their heart and soul into the construction. One can fully appreciate the effort and the dedication that the locals and the overall community put into their fantastic communal area. Their pride and community spirit is absolutely measurable and appreciated.
The beauty of the area is unparalleled and its tranquil just to walk around, pray at the altar and buy a fortune ticket which will explain to you how your life will unravel in the upcoming year, if you believe in all that superstition of course! I am fairly sure I will visit the same Shrine next New Years as well as its too hard to resist its appeal.
